ABOUT BIMEXA
Hello!
Alen Mosolini
Founder & Director · Licensed Builder · Building Designer · Interior Designer
Built on the tools.
Guided by purpose.
BimExa was never meant to simply exist. It was built to solve a problem most of the industry doesn't even know it has — because most people never stay long enough to see it.
"We are not here to be a competitor. We are here to be a solution to a problem the industry has accepted for too long."
Alen Mosolini · Founder, BimExa
THE STORY
Alen Mosolini always wanted to design and build homes. Long before he had the title, the qualifications, or the language for it, he had the love for it — for spaces, for structure, for the quiet satisfaction of watching something come together properly.
Life had other plans, at least at first. Circumstances meant the path wasn't a straight line from passion to practice. Instead, it began with trade — carpentry, the tools, the physical reality of construction. At the time, it felt like a detour. In hindsight, it was the foundation everything else would be built on.
From the tools came an understanding that no classroom could teach: what a building actually needs to survive contact with reality. From there, the path kept widening — into estimating, where every design decision revealed its true cost. Into project management, where the gap between a beautiful drawing and a buildable one became impossible to ignore. Into supervising trades on site, mediating the distance between what was drawn and what could actually be built.
It didn't start with a plan. It started with a love.
"Somewhere in all of that, I realised I wasn't moving away from design. I was being prepared for it — just not in the order anyone would have planned."
Eventually, the path led to formal study in building design and interior design — bringing structure and language to instincts that had already been tested on real sites, with real consequences, for real clients. Every experience along the way stopped feeling like a detour and started feeling like preparation.
What Alen kept noticing, across every role and every project, was something the industry rarely talks about: most designers never find out what happens to their drawings after they're handed over. They move on to the next project. They don't hear about the variations, the disputes, the compromises made on site because something was never properly resolved on paper. BimExa exists because someone stayed long enough to see all of it — and couldn't look away.
"All problems start on paper. Once a project is in construction, it's too late to control anything that wasn't resolved in the design stage."

WHY WE EXIST
Not a competitor. A response to a problem we couldn't ignore.
BimExa is not here to be better than anyone else. It's here because the industry has a gap — between vision and reality, between drawing and building — that most people simply work around instead of solving. We chose to solve it.
"To design spaces that represent the best of technology, sustainability, and creativity, delivering clarity, precision, and buildability throughout the project journey. We don't just create drawings — we deliver decisions."
We don't just create drawings — we deliver decisions. Smart, well-resolved design reduces costly variations and late-stage rework, so the savings stay with the client instead of being lost to avoidable mistakes.
OUR MISSION
"A future where every homeowner has access to clear, buildable, and well-documented design — where every decision is connected to cost, quality, and outcome."
As building costs rise, we believe that same clarity should reach every homeowner — not just the few projects where someone happened to get it right.
OUR VISION
01
Vision deserves to survive the process
A client's vision is the most important part of any project — and the easiest thing to lose. Between a first conversation and a finished home, that vision passes through dozens of decisions. We exist to protect it at every one of them.
02
Good design should not be a privilege
As costs rise and the industry changes, we believe well-designed, well-documented homes should be within reach of more people — not fewer. That belief shapes how we build our systems and where we're heading as a studio.
03
Technology in the service of people
We use modern design and modelling technology not because it's fashionable, but because it lets us solve problems earlier, communicate more clearly, and ultimately make better homes more accessible to more Australians.
How this shapes our work
Across the industry today, the same patterns repeat: budgets blow out after tender, approved designs turn out to be unbuildable as drawn, and decisions get made on site that should have been made on paper. We built BimExa specifically to stop that cycle.
What standing on both sides of the table actually teaches you.
01
We design with the build already in mind
A drawing is not finished when it looks right. It's finished when it can be built, on budget, without a phone call to ask what we meant.
What we're solving: Designs that price 20–40% over budget at tender — because structure, materials and buildability were never tested against cost during design.
03
The interior is not an afterthought
A drawing is not finished when it looks right. It's finished when it can be built, on budget, without a phone call to ask what we meant.
What we're solving: Clients forced to choose tiles, joinery and fixtures mid-construction, under time pressure, often paying a premium for rushed decisions.
02
Our documentation doesn't stop at lock-up
A drawing is not finished when it looks right. It's finished when it can be built, on budget, without a phone call to ask what we meant.
What we're solving: Builders left guessing past frame stage, raising RFIs and variations for details that were never resolved in the first place.
04
Compliance is designed in, not bolted on
A drawing is not finished when it looks right. It's finished when it can be built, on budget, without a phone call to ask what we meant.
What we're solving: Approval delays and redesign costs when compliance issues surface late, after a design is already locked in and clients are emotionally committed to it.
